General Motors (GM) India will open 300 sales points and an equal number of service outlets in the country by 2013.

“The focus is on opening new facilities in tier-II and tier-III cities. The demand has increased in the semi-urban and rural areas as a result of increased economic activities,” said Lowell Paddock, president and managing director, GM India.

GM sells its cars under the Chevrolet brand in India. The Chevrolet portfolio includes the Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Tavera.

As part of the expansion drive, this month, GM India will open new dealerships across cities like Bangalore, Hissar, Rohtak (Haryana), Una (Himachal Pradesh), Nawanshahar and Amritsar (Punjab). It will also open show rooms and services outlets in a few metros and other parts of the country, he said.

GM India now has 15 sales points and 13 service outlets in Karnataka and 279 sales points and 272 service outlets.

GM India has also introduced a centralised 24x7 call centre to answer customers’ queries and provide information about products and services. Customers can access the service by calling 3030-8080 from any landline or mobile phone across the country.

It has also introduced a breakdown helpline service, Chevy U-First free service camps and the Chevrolet Promise Cost of Ownership programme to increase its sales.
