GMR Infra records 3% growth in air traffic at Delhi, Hyderabad airports

Istanbul airport recorded a growth of 18% in air traffic

GMR Infrastructure Limited, the Bangalore-based infrastructure major with interests in power, airports, roads, EPC and SEZ development, has witnessed good traffic growth in all airports it operates during the first quarter ended June 30, 2013. The company is currently operating airports at Delhi, Hyderabad and Istanbul in Turkey.
 
The overall traffic growth of at Delhi and Hyderabad was around 3% was seen at Delhi airports, while it grew a healthy 18% in Istanbul during the first quarter. In Delhi, the international traffic growth was robust at 20% compared to Q1 last year. International traffic at Hyderabad airport went up 24% and cargo operations saw a growth of% over the first quarter of fiscal 2013.
 
 
Istanbul airport recorded an international traffic growth of 30% compared to Q1 last year and domestic traffic grew 11%, the company said in a statement.
 
G M Rao, Group Chairman, said: “The Regulatory scenario at both our Airports at Delhi and Hyderabad is now stable and both are contributing positively to the cash flows, with international traffic picking up both at DIAL and GHIAL. We have already filed the tariff application for Hyderabad airport”.
 
The gross revenue of airports segment grew 5.44% to Rs 1,395 crore during the quarter ended June 2013 compared to Rs 1,323 crore in the first quarter of last fiscal. The division also recorded a profit after tax of Rs 68 crore compared to a loss of Rs 90 crore in the year ago quarter.
