GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), promoted by GMR Infrastructure, is evaluating and discussing an expression of interest (EoI) from German major aircraft repair and engneering firm Lufthansa Technik for setting up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the new airport.

The scope will include maintenance in the form of C and D checks of both narrow body and wide body aircraft with provisions to extend comprehensive & competitive service packages to meet the needs of airlines.

The MRO facility will be a centre of excellence with approval from certifying agencies like DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) & EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

The customer base will include airlines operating in India and will gradually expand to include airlines in South/South East Asia, Middle East and North Africa.
