“The MoU was signed by V S Sirohi, executive director, GNFC and Mohamed Takhim, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), EcoPhos in presence of Rajiv Kumar Gupta, managing director, GNFC and L Chuaungo, principal secretary, energy and petrochemical department, Gujarat government on August 30 at Gandhinagar,” a statement issued by GNFC said here on Wednesday.
Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited. (GNFC) is a joint sector enterprise promoted by the Gujarat government and the Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd.(GSFC). It was set up in Bharuch in South Gujarat in 1976.
The collaboration, the statement said, is to incorporate a Joint Venture (JV) company to manufacture DCP. The statement did not elaborate at what investment the DCP plant would come up at Dahej.
“EcoPhos will have majority stake in the proposed JV Company. The DCP JV plant will be set up based on eco-friendly, energy efficient and renowned world class technology provided by EcoPhos, utilizing Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) and low grade Rock Phosphate as feed stock,” the statement highlighted.
EcoPhos is a Belgium-based technology provider, producer and market leader of animal feed phosphates in Europe.
GNFC will provide HCl, utilities and other required services and EcoPhos will provide license, engineering services and proprietary equipments to the proposed joint venture company.
Commenting on the collaboration, Gupta stated, "This JV proves GNFC's endeavour to apply eco-friendly, high-tech technologies in their production sites."
EcoPhos will market the output of the joint venture's production site at Dahej, the statement said.
EcoPhos' CEO and founder Mohamed Takhim said, "This is a substantial step in the realization of EcoPhos' target to become the global market and cost leader in animal feed phosphates through its animal feed division."
