Wadia-group owned budget carrier GoAir has launched a discount sale offering tickets upwards of Rs 999 upwards in a three day sale offer. The sale is on till Monday and tickets are valid for travel between June 23 to October 31. The discount fares are  nearly 40-60  percent lower than the competition.

The sale will help the airline to push up its forward bookings in June-October quarter which is a lean season for air travel.  GoAir  has a fleet of 19 Airbus A320 planes and flies 140 flights daily.  It flew 6.2 million passengers in 2014 and ended the year with a market share of 9.2 percent. While the Rs 999 fare is available for travel between Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Goa, Delhi-Jammu/Srinagar/Leh, Delhi-Lucknow, tickets on  Mumbai-Delhi and Mumbai-Chennai and other longer routes are priced Rs 1999 onwards.

So far other airlines have not reacted to the GoAir offer.

“With long weekends coming up and holidays getting much cheaper as compared to the summer vacation peak period, the opportunity to take advantage of value holidays is immense,” GoAir said in a statement.
