Godrej & Boyce, the flagship of Godrej group, is expanding its retail business in a big way. To start with, the company is expanding its Godrej chain of retail showrooms across the country.

B N Doongaji, vice-president (retail division), Godrej & Boyce said, "We plan to open 17 more showrooms in the next two years and increase the total number of showrooms to 50. We also plans to provide a new face to our existing retail business and new products."

The company plans to invest around Rs 5 crore for this expansion in the next two years.

It plans to add at least 10 new showrooms in the current financial year. At present the thrust will be on major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune.

Other towns such as Bhuganeshwar and Ranchi are also on the agenda, Doongaji added. The company had recently appointed Intrim Business Associates, business consultants, to streamline its business processes.

In the last one-and-half year alone, Godrej & Boyce has set up 33 showrooms, sprawling over 85,000 square feet in cities including Chandigarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The company plans to sell full range of Godrej products including home furniture, office furniture, security, appliances and locks through the showrooms.
