Beating market expectations, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) player, with a presence in the personal & household care segment, Godrej Consumer Products registered a consolidated net profit increase of 44 per cent for the quarter ended March 31, 2009, to Rs 59 crore, compared with Rs 41 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
The revenue for the fourth quarter also increased by 26 per cent to Rs 343 crore, as compared with Rs 273 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. “The company recorded 14 per cent volume growth and over 10 per cent price growth during the quarter,” said Chairman Adi Godrej.
The good performance during the quarter was also on account of reduced advertising and marketing spends of 85 per cent, at Rs 11.4 crore or 4 per cent of sales, as compared with Rs 19 crore or 9 per cent of sales in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
As for the sequential growth (compared to the trailing quarter), Godrej’s net profit increased 69 per cent, while its revenue dipped marginally by 2 per cent.
