Ahmedabad-based edible oil manufacturer Gokul Refoils and Solvent Ltd seems to be gearing up for a pan-India presence.
After setting stage for its entry into North Eastern states, the company is now exploring possibility of tapping Southern India markets of the country and Maharashtra.
As part of its expansion drive, the board of directors of company, in its annual general meeting (AGM) held on Saturday last week has decided to explore the possibility of setting up a refinery unit and solvent extraction plant in South India and Maharashtra.
The company has already commissioned its 1,500 tonnes per day (TPD) soyabean plant at Gandhidham in Kutch district of Gujarat. Gokul is also in the process of putting up a 1,000 TPD edible oil refinery at port city of Haldia in West Bengal. The upcoming refinery is likely to be operational by March 2009.
"With operationalisation of Haldia refinery by March next year, the company hopes to boost its sales in North Easter States. The company also expects that its turnover would reach Rs. 3,000 crore by the end of current fiscal," said Balvantsinh Rajput, chairman and managing director, Gokul.
At present Gokul has three edible oil refining and processing unit at Kandla, Sidhpur and Surat in Gujarat having total refining capacity of 1,200 metric tonnes per day.
