Delhi-based Aerens Gold Souk International is setting up a gold and diamond park at Kalamassery, near here with an investment of Rs 450 crore.
Company vice-chairman and joint managing director Ashish Gupta said the man-ufacturing facility at the park would be ready by Septem-ber 2011 and it might take three more years for the pro-ject to be fully operational.
“Encouraged by the success of the Gold Souk Grande mall in Kochi, we are planning to set up two more malls in the state at Thiru-vananthapuram and Kozhikode with an invest-ment of Rs 150 crore each. The company has spent Rs 100 crore for the Kochi project. The proposed Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram Gold Souk Grande will house 5-star hotels as well,” he added.
Billed as Kerala’s biggest initiative for the gems and jewellery Industry, the gold and diamond park would come up on 33 acres of land. It would bring jewellery manufac-turers, retailers, artisans, exporters and wholesalers to interact, network, source and promote business prospects. The park would facilitate standardisation in the industry, help in creation of products of international standard, provide steady employment opportunities and make available latest technologies.
