Growing hospitality chain, Golden Tulip Hotels plans to open three new hotels in Uttar Pradesh in the next two-three years.

The company already runs 14 hotels in India, including one in Lucknow.

"We are looking at Allahabad, Varanasi and Agra as possible locations to open new hotels in the state," Louvre Hotels MD (South Asia) Vimal J Singh told Business Standard here. He said these hotels could either be Greenfield or Brownfield properties.

Golden Tulip South Asia is part of the international Louvre Hotels Group, which runs hotels and resorts around the world. Currently, US-based private investment firm Starwood Capital owns all these brands.

"We are already scouting for suitable land and properties in these cities to expand our network," Singh informed.

Golden Tulip Hotels has recently upgraded its Lucknow property to four star deluxe by adding another block at an investment of over Rs 35 crore.

"By December 2013, we would add another 5 new hotels to our network of 14 existing properties in India," Singh said.

Several hospitality brands have set up shops in Lucknow and other major towns, owing to the rapid expansion of service sector. The state capital has witnessed launch of about a dozen star hotels in the last five years to cater to the rising demand from tourists and corporate clients.

Starwood Capital Group is the world's eighth largest hospitality player with over 1,000 hotels having 83,000 rooms across 40 countries.
