Wipro, India’s third largest software services company, has made changes in its structure, including creating a new business unit, and promoted Senior Vice-president (VP) Saurabh Govil as head of human resources (HR). Govil’s elevation was necessitated after Pratik Kumar, executive vice-president and the HR head, moved to Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (now part of Wipro Enterprises) as chief executive officer (CEO).
The company confirmed these developments in reply to an email by Business Standard. In his new role, Govil will report to T K Kurien, CEO and member of the board of directors.
The new business unit, Change the Business Services, will focus on products as a service. Anurag Srivastava, a senior VP serving as the chief technology officer (CTO) will head the new unit. Wipro is also merging its analytics and information management (A&IM) services unit with advanced technologies services. The merged unit will be headed by Jeff Heenan-Jalil, currently heading advanced technologies. K R Sanjiv, earlier heading A&IM, will be the new CTO.
