As the proposed IT park is highly employment intensive and is expected to generate employment opportunities for 20,000 people, the government has decided to expedite the allotment of land to the company, Pradeep Mohapatra, secretary, IT, Government of Orissa, said.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the IT task force, he said, the company has sought 30 acres of land to for its IT park in Bhubaneswar. As the company has stated that it will consider shifting to other states if there is delay in allotment of land, the government decided to expedite this process.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Orissa government in May, 2008 to set up Mindspace IT park in Bhubaneswar.

The IT park will come under the banner of a joint venture company to be formed by the state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and K Raheja group.

While the construction of the ITpark  is expected to be completed in about 3 years, an estimated Rs250 crore will be invested in the first phase. Three possible locations which are being considered for the project include Infocity-I, Infocity-II and Mancheswar Industrial Estate.

The park will be developed in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode and will have about 10 lakh square feet of space to be used by different IT and ITeS companies coming to Orissa.
