Vikram Sakhuja, GroupM’s chief executive for India and South Asia has been appointed the global chief executive of Maxus, a leading GroupM media agency network. GroupM is the media arm of Martin Sorrell-controlled WPP, the world’s largest advertising and marketing services network.

Sakhuja was not immediately available for comments.

Sakhuja is the third India-born GroupM executive to be elevated in recent months. In June, Ashutosh Srivastava, chief executive of Mindshare APAC, was named GroupM’s chairman and chief executive for global emerging markets and global leader for products/services and talent development. R Gowthaman, chief client officer, Mindshare APAC, was appointed the agency’s chief executive of South and Southeast Asia.

Sakhuja would continue as GroupM’s chief executive till a successor is named. He would be the first Maxus CEO to be based in India. Maxus was declared the fastest-growing media agency globally for three consecutive years.

Maxus’s performance has been largely driven by Asia-Pacific. Maxus’s clients in India include Vodafone, Nokia, Titan, L’Oreal and Google.
