GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare(GSKCH) has resumed operations at its plant in Dowlaiswaram, Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a statement posted on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday. Work at the plant was temporarily halted on December 11 following widespread unrest in the state.
The turmoil was due to the Centre’s decision to accord status of a separate state to the region of Telangana. GSK said on December 11 it was reviewing the situation in the state and business would not be hampered on account of the shutdown. The Andhra plant employs 800 people and contributes 25 per cent to the firm’s capacity in nutritional products.
