GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare entered the Rs 50-crore 'specialist nutrition' market in Uttar Pradesh with the launch of its protein supplement product 'Actibase'. |
"Supporting about 10-15 per cent of the total Rs 500-crore market of the country, Uttar Pradesh seems to be the largest protein supplement consumer market according to our research," Pritendra Chawla, head, Strategic Innovations Group, told Business Standard. |
The company has approached about 1,000 doctors and 2,000 chemists for product details in the state. |
"About one-fourth of the supplement market comes from the prescriptions. Hence, we feel doctors and chemists are the most important link between us and the consumers," Chawla added. |
