Network engineering and IT services company GTL today reported a decline of 40.40 per cent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 35 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, over the same period last year.
The company had a net profit after tax attributable to consolidated group of Rs 58.9 crore in the same quarter ended June 2009, GTL Ltd said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income rose to Rs 614.5 crore for the April-June quarter, from Rs 510 crore for the same quarter previous fiscal.
On the standalone basis, the company posted a net profit of Rs 22.4 crore in the April-June period, down 48.50 per cent over the same period last year.
The selling and marketing expenses increased to Rs 16.67 crore in the current quarter from Rs 13.43 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The total manpower of the company stood at 7,064 as on June 30, 2010, as against 5,942 as June 30, 2009.
Shares of GTL today closed at Rs 427.95 on the BSE, up 1.54 per cent from the previous close.
