Gujarat Ambuja tops 2003-04 despatches

The Gujarat Ambuja group, comprising Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Ambuja Cement Eastern and Ambuja Cement Rajasthan, topped the list of despatches for 2003-2004 at 13.24 million tonne, registering a growth of 11.4 per cent over 11.88 million tonne in the previous year.

ACC's despatches in the year posted a growth of 10.7 per cent at 15.36 million tonne, against 13.88 million tonne in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Aditya Birla group flagship Grasim Industries' despatches rose 6.49 per cent at 12.2 million tonne compared with 11.9 million tonne during April 2002-March 2003. Cement production at Grasim stood at 12.7 million tonne, a rise of 6.21 per cent compared with 11.9 million tonne in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Domestic cement despatches of the country's four largest cement producers have posted an average growth of 2.25 per cent in March at 4.98 million tonne.
