Gujarat Tourism is eyeing a 25 per cent growth in tourist arrivals to touch 25 million in the next financial year.

Tourist arrivals to the state stood at 22.3 million in 2011-12, as against 17 million in 2009-10. “We are expecting 25 million tourists this year,” Sanjay Kaul, managing director, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and commissioner of Gujarat Tourism, told mediapersons after launching its TIB (tourist info board) office in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Various projects worth Rs 439 crore, which will give a boost to the state tourism, are under way, he said.

“Since the last few years, the state is seeing a 16 per cent year-on-year growth in tourism. This year, we expect the tourism inflow to grow 26 per cent,” Kaul told Business Standard.
