Gujaratilexicon launches mobile applications

The mobile applications-GL Dictionary, GL Plus, GL Special, GL Games & Lokkosh are supported by major platforms like iPhone, Android & Blackberry

Gujaratilexicon (GL), a first of its kind Gujarati language portal, today launched five mobile applications aimed at preserving and popularising Gujarati language across the globe.

The mobile applications-GL Dictionary, GL Plus, GL Special, GL Games & Lokkosh-supported by major platforms like iPhone, Android & Blackberry, can be downloaded for free, enabling the users to enjoy Gujarati crosswords, quiz and games, besides the facility to translate from English to Gujarati & vice-versa, among other features.

"Today, we are launching the mobile version to take the power of Gujaratilexicon to the million of mobile users across the world," said Ashok Karania, of Gujaratilexicon.     "Using this, Gujarati language lovers can develop vocabulary, enjoy literature, play games/quizzes and other features, on smartphones and tablets too," he said.
 

Explaining the flagship feature of GL Dictionary, Karania said the user will type a word in English or Gujarati and get the meaning. There is a facility to use an online keyboard to type the Gujarati word.

Launched in 2006, the Gujaratilexicon portal now is a repository of over 45 lakh words in Gujarati language, and has recorded around two crore visits, Karania said.

"In an another venture we have started Gujarati word translation facility to Chinese and Japanese languages on global.Gujaratilexicon.Com," he said.

"Around five thousand words in each of the foreign language are available for people aspiring to get familiar with it," Karania said.

He said the portal is being revamped and would have many new features like law and health dictionary, conversion to Marathi, among other host of features.
