MS Enterprises, a healthcare systems firm that claims to have been running here the biggest showroom of surgical and medical equipment systems in south India, has bagged all-India distribution rights to sell the medical lighting equipment manufactured by Derungs, a 120-year-old transnational Switzerland company. |
The firm's chief executive officer S K Moinuddin told Business Standard that he bagged the deal to market the world famous medical lighting systems at affordable prices in India after convincing Gossau-based Derungs' Asia-Pacific executives at a number of international seminars on surgical equipment. Derungs has been incorporated into the Waldmann Lighting Technology group since 1999. |
He said, "We have already appointed dealers in 16 states. The Derungs lighting systems do not form any shadow that could possibly disturb the surgeon's concentration during an operation. The lights generate no heat at all and the surgeons find tissues in 100 per cent original colours." |
"Of the Derungs' systems," he said, "Saturn, a lighting system for major operation theatres, priced at Rs 2-3.5 lakh, Xerox system, used in minor surgeries and gynaecic cases, supplied at Rs 1.25-1.5 lakh, and Haleus lights for general examination, supplied at Rs 30,000, have become popular with the medical profession." |
He said MS Enterprises was targeting a turnover Rs 1 crore this year and in 2005-06 he was expecting bulk business from Derungs' systems when the complete dealer network throughout the country would be ready. |
Moinuddin said that his firm was also the sole distributor in south India for American company Masimo's 'Pulse-Oxymeter', which measures saturation of oxygen in blood in relation to pulse rate. |
He is also supplying the whole range of surgical and medical equipment for major and minor operation theatres and ICU units, including surgical diathermy (spark and arc) instrument, which through electronic frequency cuts and coagulates the bleeding point in the patient's body, surgical suction and irrigation pumps, endomat pumps, suction aspirator, operation theatre and examination lights, tables, multipara monitors, ENT and ophthalmic instruments, anaesthesia apparatus, laryngoscope, paediatric equipment and stainless steel and powder coated hospital furniture. |
