Riding on the success of its 3-D TV serial 'Mayavi', Chennai-based film production house GV Films plans to expand its 3-D content production services to overseas markets. |
The company is engaged in discussions with Swedish and Australian media houses, besides a couple of Korean companies, for 3-D content production. |
GV Films' 26-week 3-D TV serial Mayavi last month bagged the Seoul Drama Awards 2007 for excellence in Television Dramas of Substance and Creativity. |
The Seoul Drama Awards are considered the equivalent of the Oscar Awards for television serials. |
The award attracts entries from leading television production houses across the globe, said V Revee, chief executive, GV Films. |
"The award has rekindled interest in 3-D and a number of international companies are talking to us for production and co-production of 3-D content in their countries," he said. |
GV announced its venture in live action 3-D serials for television one-and-a-half years ago and produced its first 3-D TV serial Mayavi in Tamil. The 3-D serial is presently available in four languages, and the company is planning to dub the serial in 17 Indian languages. |
The company aims to garner Rs 3-4 crore through the Mayavi venture in the Indian market over the next one year and also expects substantial revenues from the international market. It didn't disclose the production costs for Mayavi. |
