The project coming up at Rajkot will involve an investment of Rs 40 cr

H&R Johnson (India) Ltd, provider of tiles, bath products and kitchens solutions, is setting up a floor tile manufacturing plant in Rajkot. The project would require an investment of around Rs 40 crore.

The unit is coming up in a plant owned by Rajkot-based Spectrum Tiles. H&R Johnson is adding one more kiln to the existing ones to put up the new unit. It may be mentioned here that H&R Johnson had entered into a joint venture agreement with Spectrum last year to manufacture wall tiles.

The proposed plant will initially have a capacity of 15,000 sq m per day, to be expanded a phased manner. Apart from this, the capacity of the existing wall tiles plant will be doubled to 24,000 sq m per day in a year.

“We see the project as one of the steps to touch Rs 3,000 crore by 2013. This plant is expected to commence commercial production within nine months. Investments towards capacity expansions in this unit are also in the pipeline in the near future,” said Vijay Aggarwal, managing director, H&R Johnson.
