Tile manufacturer H&R Johnson today said it would be expanding production capacity at its Rajkot plant from 22,000 sq mtrs per day to 30,000 sq mtrs per day at an investment of around Rs 50-crore.
The capacity of the Rajkot-based vitrified tiles joint venture Antique Granito plant is being raised by adding one more kiln to the existing three kilns, a press release issued here said.
"This capacity expansion in our Rajkot vitrified JV plant Is one of the few steps towards the company's target to touch Rs 3,000-crore within next five years," the company's Managing Director Vijay Aggarwal said.
The project is expected to be commissioned by December this year and is the result of increase in demand for the company's vitrified tiles under the brand Marbonite.
"The market demand for Marbonite has been growing at a healthy rate and we expect the trend will continue in the future also. We are scaling-up the production of Marbionite at various locations to cater to the growing demand," he said.
The plant is a 50:50 joint venture between H&R Johnson and Antique Granito.
