Hafed to market organic products

Disclosing this today, a spokesperson of Hafed said that organic desi wheat and organic mustard oil were likely to be introduced in the market in the next couple of months and thereafter products like organic basmati rice, pulses  would be introduced.

He said in order to maintain genetic purity of its products, Hafed had initiated contract farming of various crops in Haryana.

 

Desi wheat, desi wheat atta and basmati rice were the products made from the crops grown under contract farming. As many as 1320 farmers in the district of Kurukshetra, Karnal and Kaithal had already shown their willingness for growing organic crops under contract farming, he added.

The spokesperson said that the consumers products of Hafed had gained popularity in the domestic market in a big way during the year 2007-08, as their average sales had increased by 88.05 per cent over the previous year.
