With an estimated potential of 3.273 billion units of electricity annually in Haryana through energy conservation measures in agriculture, commercial buildings, municipalities, domestic and industrial sectors, the Haryana government is drawing plans to implement the energy conservation measures in the state.
According to town and country planning department Financial Commissioner D S Dhesi, the department has already laid conditions to promote energy conservation in the state.
The department from last six months has laid condition for the real estate developers and plot owners that they should include conditions for energy efficient lightening and solar water heating system while applying for licences.
Haryana Renewable Energy Development Authority (Hareda) director Sumita Mishra maintained that the Haryana CM had approved the proposal for creation of State Energy Conservation Fund (Green Energy Conservation) with an initial outlay of Rs 1 crore for the current financial year.
As per Section 16 of the Energy Conservation Act 2001, the state government is required to constitute a State Energy Conservation Fund (SECF) to support energy conservation initiatives in the state. The SECF would support the energy conservation initiatives in the state and the proposal for SECF has been forwarded to the finance department.
Encouraged by the results of Energy Saving Company (Esco) projects in municipal street lightening in Hisar and Panchkula, Hareda officials maintained that projects were under implementation in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
