The Andhra Pradesh High Court today granted injunction orders against the raids and seizure operations initiated by the police on Amway facilities in the state.

Addressing a press conference in this connection, Rajat Banerjee, head of corporate communications, Amway India Enterprise, said that the court had ruled that, prima facie, the provisions of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978, do not apply to Amway.

A single judge bench has also issued a directive to the police not to interfere in the lawful business of Amway and its distributors, he said.

With the court's intervention, the Amway facilities in the state will shortly commence normal operations and its members will carry on business as usual, according to Banarjee.

The company spokesperson also refuted the allegations levelled by the state CID wing stating that neither was any person being coerced to join the distribution scheme nor was anyone forced to buy Amway products. "It is purely a personal and individual decision," he added.
