The Calcutta High Court today appointed three special officers to oversee the movement of spare parts from the Hindustan Motors' Uttarpara plant, under lock-out since April 11, due to ongoing strike by workers. |
The plant supplies spare parts to various auto makers including Tata Motors. |
Justice Dipankar Dutta appointed lawyers "� Aurobindo Chatterjee, Sahashrangshu Bhattacharya and Biswarup Bhattacharya "� to oversee the movement of finished goods for Tata Motors' Jamshedpur plant. |
The court also directed the special officers to make an inventory of the products in the presence of Hindustan Motors and Tata Motors officials by the weekend. The supply of finished goods will start on Monday. |
The court also directed the superintendent of police, Hooghly, to ensure proper security and protection to those who would bring out the products from the plant. |
The striking workers and their family members were allegedly not allowing finished products movement from the plant. |
The court also directed all the parties involved, including the striking union |
Sangrami Sramik Karmachari Union (SSKU), to cooperate. |
The Uttarpara plant manufactures Ambassador cars and spare parts for other vehicle makers. |
The plant has been witnessing a strike called by SSKU since March. |
Tata Motors had sought the court's direction to appoint special officers to supervise the removal of dyes and components from the premises and also get police protection and assistance. |
