HCC posts 72% fall in net at Rs 6 cr

Engineering and construction company Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) today reported a net profit of Rs 5.51 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.

The company had a net profit of Rs 19.94 crore in the same quarter corresponding fiscal.

"The company has amended the accounting standards related to 'effect of the changes in foreign exchange rate' in the last quarter of the previous year ended March 31, 2009, therefore the results for the current quarter are not comparable with the results of the corresponding quarter of last year," the company said.

Total income rose to Rs 783.91 crore in the latest quarter from Rs 675.98 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

 

The order book of the company stood at Rs 15,542 crore as on September 30, 2009, the company said.

Lavasa Corporation, an HCC subsidiary, has reported operational income of Rs 102.2 crore for second quarter ended September and profit after tax of Rs 30.5 crore, it added.

Shares of HCC were trading at Rs 129.85 on BSE, up 0.58 per cent from its previous close.
