HCL adopts 'just-in-time model' for recruitment

Two-thirds of HCL's new recruits are from off-campus

Information technology major HCL Technologies Ltd, is starting to hire more people from off campus, reduce its training time for candidates by almost half and recruit domain-specific candidates.

Naveen Narayanan, senior vice president – human resources, HCL Technologies said the company is recruiting from off-campus, which is a more just-in-time concept. Two-thirds of HCL's new recruits are from off-campus. This initiative has helped the company to bring down “inventory”.

The company has also managed to cut down the training time by half to three months from six months earlier, which also means savings in training cost.

Besides, HCL has also started recruiting domain specific candidates.
