HCL Info in black, Q2 net at Rs 41 crore

Computer hardware company HCL Infosystems has reported a net profit of Rs 41.4 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2004 against a loss of Rs 19 lakh posted in the same period last year.
 
The company has also reported a 67 per cent growth in revenue to Rs 1042.9 crore (Rs 625.5 crore). Profit before tax rose 72 per cent to Rs 50.5 crore (Rs 29.4 crore). The board of directors of the company has declared a second interim dividend of 50 per cent.
 
For the year ended June 30, 2003 the company had declared a final dividend of 100 per cent. The computer systems business of the company grew 56 per cent to Rs 373.9 crore (Rs 240.1 crore). The office automation and telecommunication business revenues grew 91 per cent to Rs 664.4 crore (Rs 347.3 crore).
 
Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and chief executive, HCL Infosystems Ltd, said: "The results bear testimony to the consumers increasing confidence in HCL Infosystems to meet their diverse IT needs. We, in turn, have committed ourselves to deliver better value and quality in our products. We will further enhance our ongoing relationship with customers and endeavor to exceed their expectations. The recent positive announcements by the government in excise and custom duty reduction on computers and mobile phones will help in growing the market and our business as well".
