Just a few months after raising $30 million from Sequoia Capital and Matrix Partners, Bengaluru-based healthcare technology company Practo acquires fitness technology start up FitHo.
While Practo offers an online software helping doctors and clinics upload and access the prescriptions, records and payment schedules of patients, FitHo offers customized diet and exercise plans to customers. Practo also runs practo.com that helps people book online appointment with doctors.
“This is the first of several acquisitions we are exploring. It is the next step in our mission to make a single health app which offers consumers a more comprehensive solution ranging from preventive to curative healthcare” Shashank ND, Founder & CEO, Practo said in an statement.
Currently, nearly 30,000 doctors use our Practo’s online software and the company claims that it manages to double its subscription every six months. Practo.com, on the other and, boasts of a database of nearly 125,000 doctors. With a team of 1,000 people, the company aims to have a presence in 35 cities soon.
FitHo, on the other hand, boasts of an annual user base of more than 2 million. And according to FitHo website “70,000 members from across 400 town/ cities in India have used the Fitho plan.”
Following the acquisition, Practo plans to launch all new preventive care product by phasing out FitHo products in the next six months.
