The authorities of Heavy Engineering Corporation today warned of disciplinary action against workers failing to report for duty due to a token strike called by the HEC Hatia Mazdoor Union.
"Apart from disciplinary action, wages would be cut on the basis of 'no work no pay' if they stand absent tomorrow," HEC management said in a press release here.
Reminding the employees of how the public sector undertaking performed well in the face of being declared sick by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR), the release said HEC had an order worth Rs 1,650 crore which needs to be delivered on time.
Future orders depend on delivering present orders within the time frame, the release said.
The strike was called in support of the union's charter of demands. The management said they were sympathetic to the demands and efforts for solutions were being made.
