Herbalife India, a subsidiary of US-based Herbalife nutrition firm, is planning to expand its reach to 50 cities from the current 14. The company is mainly looking at tier-II and tier-III cities across India by mid-2011.

Renewing its brand association with world’s No 2 badminton player Saina Nehwal, Ajay Khanna, country head, Herbalife India, said, “We are integrating more India-specific products and planning to open more sell-centres in Orissa, Jaipur and other places as part of our expansion plan in India.”

The company sells its products through independent distributors across India. Its India-specific products like Afresh Elaichi, Mango drink and Lemon drink are manufactured at its unit in Himachal Pradesh.

“In the first quarter, we had seen a double digit growth. Last year, it was triple digit growth in India,” he added. The company is aiming to achieve 20 per cent more growth from its India operations going forward.

Saina had endorsed Herbalife when she was No 28, Khanna added.

Herbalife currently has 1.9 million distributors and 65 million customers worldwide in 73 countries.
