After three successful editions of the India Cyclothon in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, India’s biggest mass mobilisation cycling event would be held on September 26 in Chandigarh. India Cyclothon will be held with Hero Cycles on-board as the principal partner for the event that will be called Hero Cycles India Cyclothon.

This is Hero Cycles’ first association with India Cyclothon. The company has bagged the rights of organising the next editions of India Cyclothon in Pune and Hyderabad as well.

Each of the past editions of India Cyclothon have had over 6,000 participants across various categories and a similar turnout is expected in Chandigarh.

Sport18, the sports marketing division of Network 18 group, along with Hero Cycles and the Chandigarh Administration announced the opening of registrations for the event from Tuesday.

The event comprises multiple categories — the Go Air Corporate ride of 20 km, the LG Green ride of 10 km, the Amateur ride of 20 km and the Kids ride for children between the ages of 8 and 13 spanning 5 km. The event proves to be the big draw with thousands turning out to pedal on the roads to proclaim their support for greener and cleaner urban spaces. It will have participants from all walks of life including amateur cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, working professionals, housewives and school children, thus adding colour and festivities to the whole event.

The highlight of the event will be a 60-km National Elite Race that will see the nation’s top cyclists competing for prize money. This race will conducted by the Sport18 under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India.

Hero Cycles Chairman O P Munjal said, “It is a matter of great pride for us to announce the partnership of Hero Cycles with India Cyclothon.”
