Two-wheeler companies Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto continued to post high double digit growth in motorcycle sales in August, despite the drought-like conditions in various states across India.
Hero Honda registered a 26.7 per cent rise in sales, which touched 1,37,264 units in August against 1,08,269 units in August 2001. Its biggest rival in the two-wheeler segment, Bajaj Auto reported a 36.4 per cent growth in motorcycle sales, at 65,475 units against 48,015 units in August 2001.
TVS Motor Co had yesterday reported a 131 per cent growth, at 58,636 in motorcycle sales. This has, however, come over a relatively smaller base of 25,385 bikes sold by the company in August 2001.
