Two-wheeler companies seem to have replayed their January performance in February with industry leader Hero Honda zooming ahead and Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor posting unimpressive sales volumes. |
Hero Honda breached the 2 lakh sales mark for the third time this fiscal, selling 2,04,555 units in February, a 52 per cent jump over 1,34,763 units sold in February 2003. |
Hero Honda's cumulative sales grew 20 per cent between April 2003 and February 2004, from 15,61,815 units to 18,77,976 units. |
Meantime, Bajaj Auto has posted a 6 per cent growth in two-wheeler sales at 1,06,558 units compared with 1,00,118 units in the corresponding previous period. |
It sold 84,170 motorcycles in February 2004, a 10 per cent growth over February 2003. But scooter sales dipped 4.55 per cent to 22,388 units from 23,457 units . |
Sales at TVS Motor Company rose 4 per cent to 96,408 units in February 2004 compared with 92,951 units during the same period last year. |
But total motorcycle sales fell 3 per cent to 59,286 units from 61,265 units. Scooterette sales rose 37 per cent to 14,188 units . |
The company said it has decided to ramp up production of its latest offering, the Centra, owing to good response. |
