The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda today reported its highest ever sales for a month in April at 5,17,099 units, registering a jump of 39.12%.

The company had sold 371,652 units during the same month of last year, Hero Honda Motors Ltd (HHML) said in a statement.

Its previous highest ever monthly sales were achieved in March this year when it clocked 5,15,852 units.

This is the second consecutive month that the company's monthly sales have crossed the five lakh mark.

"It is extremely heartening to begin the new fiscal year with our best ever monthly sales. This has been possible due to our all round growth across territories and across segments," HHML Senior Vice-President Anil Dua said.

HHML also said its scooter Pleasure continues to gain ground and crossed the 35,000 unit-threshold in April.

"With volumes of well over 35,000 units this month, our scooter Pleasure is also playing an important role in contributing to this growth. Our business continues to move ahead and volumes continue to grow on strong fundamentals," he added.

In December last year, the Indian promoter of the two- wheeler maker, the B M Munjal family, had agreed to buyout the entire 26% stake of the Japanese promoter Honda in Hero Honda for Rs 3,841.83 crore.

Following Honda's exit, the company has embarked on developing a new brand identity for itself.

The firm has roped in a creative partner Law & Kenneth (L&K) to give shape to the communication for launching and establishing the new brand, close on the heels of bringing on board the brand and innovation specialist Wolff Olins to work on its new brand identity.
