Hero Honda Motors is planning to delay the start of production at a new plant in Uttarakhand till April 2008 due to a slowdown in demand.

"The new fiscal would see the industry picking up pace, and this will be the ideal time for Hero Honda to start production at Uttarakhand," Anil Dua, vice president (sales and marketing), Hero Honda said in a statement.

The plant will be completed, as scheduled, in August 2007, and will have an initial capacity to make 5,00,000 units, which will be scaled up eventually to 1.5 million units, the statement added.
