Hilton opens its second hotel in Bangalore

The group now has 13 hotels in India and is set to open four more in the next two years

Hilton Worldwide, a global hospitality company, today announced the opening of its new hotel in India, the Hilton Bangalore Embassy GolfLinks, developed jointly with Bangalore-based real estate developer Embassy Group. The Embassy Group has invested Rs 350 crore for a 247 room hotel spread over four acres.

This is the second hotel of Hilton in Bangalore and the 13th in India. With this the total rooms operated by the hotel major has gone up to 2,000 in the country. The group is also in talks with several other Indian companies including Embassy Group to expand its hotel presence in the country in the next three to five years.

 

The company would open its Double Tree hotel brand at Agra in October this year and Conrad hotel brand at Pune next year, said Daniel Welk, vice president, operations, India, Hilton Worldwide. "We are in talks with several Indian companies for opening many of our hotel brands in India. Currently, we have four out of eleven hotel brands in India and gradually expand the presence," he said.

Jitu Virwani, chairman and managing director of Embassy Group said the company would open its second hotel at Manyata Tech Park in the north of Bangalore. Besides these two, the company is also in the process of buying out Four Seasons hotel, which will see an investment of Rs 600 crore.

He said the company would be investing close to Rs 1,500 crore for the expansion of its hospitality business including the just opened Hilton Bangalore Embassy Golf Links. "We are talking to Hilton for our next hotel at Manyata Tech Park," he said.
