Food processing firm Himalaya International today said it will invest Rs 140 crore in Gujarat for setting up an agro-food processing unit there.
The company has entered into an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up an agro-food processing export-oriented unit in the Mehsana district, with an investment of Rs 140 crore, Himalaya International said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The investment by the Himachal Pradesh-based firm would generate jobs for nearly 2,000 people, it further said.
The company expects to commence commercial production in the second-half of calendar year 2010, it added.
This new agro-food processing unit in Gujarat would focus on contract farming for the procurement of raw materials for processing frozen food appetisers, Himalaya International said.
