Himatsingka Seide sets up fine furnishing store in city

Himatsingka Seide Ltd (HSL) , a leading manufacturer of silk and silk-blended fabrics, has launched its fine furnishing store called 'Atmosphere' a retail chain in Kolkata after other major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Gurgaon and Hyderabad.

The store displays more than 160 designs across 850 shades.

'Atmosphere' is designed for displaying and order placing only "" all the deliveries are to be done direct to the customer within three days from the central warehouse located in Bangalore.

The price lies in a range from Rs 750 to Rs 1500 per meter with some special silk velvets product in the Rs 3000 per metre price bracket.

"It's a comprehensive home furnishing platform. We are the pioneers to have a nationwide presence in the upper end of the market," said A K Himatsingka , vice Chairman of the Rs 165 crore Himatsingka group.

The target set for the Kolkata is at least Rs 1 crore for the first year.

Atmosphere, promoted by Himatsingka Woven Pvt Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of HSL , is envisaged to contribute between Rs 10 and Rs 15 crore during the first full year of operation country-wide.

A few more store in the retails chain are to be launched within some months at Vadodara, Ludhiana and Kochi.

The group might also undertake a new project with an investment of Rs 150 crore to manufacture high-end bed line and sell through Atmosphere in recent future.

HSL is also planning to expand its production capacity by 25 to 30 per cent from present 17 lakh metric tonne per year with an investment of around Rs 25 to Rs 30 crore within a year to meet demands from both domestic and international market, Himatsingka added.
