Hindalco plans Rs 11,000cr aluminium project

Hindalco Industries today signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Orissa to set up a world-class aluminium complex in Orissa.

According to a release issued by Hindalco to the BSE today, the integrated aluminium project will comprise of an alumina refinery of one million metric tonne per annum, an aluminium smelter plant of 2,60,000 tonne per annum, a captive power plant of 650 MW and bauxite mines of 3 million tonne annual capacity.

The estimated project cost is about Rs 11,000 crore, the release added.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Aditya Birla group, and Naveen Patnaik, chief minister of Orissa, were present at the signing ceremony in Bhubaneswar.
