The Hinduja Group of Companies plans to invest over Rs 1,000 crore on various projects in the areas of power generation, airports and medical tourism in Karnataka, according to a state government release.

In a meeting with Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in Mumbai last week, Hinduja Group India chairman Ashok P Hinduja and group president Dheeraj Hinduja also sought permission to build an international convention centre on land owned by them near Yelahanka in Bangalore.

The state has expressed its readiness to extend all help and support to the Hindujas, provided the industrial conglomerate is willing to invest in infrastructure projects like power, industrial corridors and tourism, among others.

A team of Hinduja Group officials are expected to visit Karnataka soon to hold discussions with state government officials.
