Hindustan Zinc Q4 net jumps 43%

Hindustan Zinc has posted a 43% jump in its net profit at Rs 1,771 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to the same period a year ago. Its net sales jumped 28% to Rs 3,197 crore year on year (YoY).

In FY11, the company reported a net profit of Rs 4,900 crore, up 21% compared to the year-ago period while its net sales for the period stood at Rs 9,912 crore, up 24% from the previous fiscal.

The board of directors recommended dividend at 50% (Re 1 per equity share of Rs 2 each) for the year 2010-11.

“Q4 refined zinc production up 29% at 194,000 tonne; and FY2011 up 23% at 712,000 tonne. A silver production in FY11, 179,000 kilograms,” the company said in a filing to the stock exchanges.

At 2.28 pm the shares of Hindustan Zinc were trading 5% higher at Rs 154.25 on the NSE.
