According to Naukri Job Speak Index, hiring activity in November this year dipped by 7 per cent when compared to the same period last year. Similarly, the hiring activity for November 2012 also dipped by 4 per cent over October this year.

This dip can be attributed to the festive season spanning across the month as well as the uncertain economic outlook. There is some caution in the environment as the IT- Software sector which is the biggest job creator of the country has seen consecutive five months of dips in its hiring activity.

Hitesh Oberoi, chief executive and managing director at Info Edge said, “A look at the index for the past three years shows that there is usually a dip in hiring during the festive season. However, this year recruiters are cautious and any short –term recovery may not be sustained because of the uncertain economic background”.

On a month on month comparison, hiring activity dipped for all key sectors barring construction and pharma. Among all metros, positive hiring was witnessed only in Kolkata with hiring activity picking up by 15 per cent in November 2012 when compared to the previous month.
