In signs of improving labour market conditions, hiring marginally increased last month, according to job portal Monster.Com.
The Monster Employment Index India, which provides a monthly gauge of online job demand, inched up to 123 in July as compared to the previous month.
In June, the index stood at 122, declining from 124 in May.
On an annual basis, the index shot up 13% last month, Monster.Com said in a statement today. In June 2010, the index was at 109.
Among sectors, job opportunities in media/entertainment saw a growth of 54%, followed by oil/gas -- that grew 38% in July, it noted.
"The Monster Employment Index India exhibits a positive annual growth. The July index is seeing a positive momentum in technology sectors along with media & entertainment and oil & gas sectors," Monster.Com's Managing Director (India/Middle East/South East Asia) Sanjay Modi said.
As per the statement, demand for senior management professionals rose 26% while opportunities in marketing & communications segment dropped by 10% in July.
"What is most notable about the recent trends is that all 13 cities are exhibiting a positive annual growth," Modi noted.
