HLL and Pepsi extend marketing agreement

The marketing and distribution alliance between Hindustan Lever (HLL) and Pepsi India for jointly selling hot beverages and soft drinks through vending machines and fountains has now been extended to HLL's ready-to-drink teas and specialty teas.
 
Lipton is world's best -selling brand of tea. For the ready-to-drink teas and tea-based beverages, the product will be available through various packaging formats ""glass, tetrapak and Pet.
 
In a press statement, HLL said a whole slew of new products are being developed and tested for launch in India. Iced tea flavours, green tea, herbal teas and diet tea will be available in the market.
 
In the hot beverages, HLL offers hot tea (cardamom, diet cardamom, ginger and masala flavours) and hot coffee (pure, Cappucino and Mochaccino) portfolio and is being sold through the vending networks of HLL and Pepsi. The alliance for hot beverages was formed in January 2003.
 
The Pepsi-Lipton alliance in India will build upon the success of the Pepsi -Lipton tea partnership in the United States as well as Pepsi Lipton International joint venture formed in October 2003 for select international markets.
 
The beverages brands of HLL are Litpon, Taj Mahal and Bru while Pepsi's brands include Pepsi, 7Up, Mirinda, Tropicana and Aquafina.
 
The Indian alliance draws on the strengths of both companies: HLL brings the Lipton brand as well as its ice-tea products. It also brings its research and development capabilities for tea-based beverages. PepsiCo brings its extensive bottling and distribution systems.
