FMCG major Hindustan Lever Ltd is embarking on an expansion drive for its food products and beverages distribution in Jammu and Kashmir even as it mulls investments in manufacturing in the long term.

"We are on a drive to expand our distribution network in the state, particularly for food products and beverages," HLL Vice-Chairman M K Sharma said.

He said the company was currently focussing on establishing vending machines for Lipton tea and other drinks that they offer in "all the tourist spots of the state".

Sharma, however, declined to comment on the investments that the company had earmarked for the expansion.

"We will be spending on installing those vending machines in strategic areas of tourist spots and it should not be huge," he said.

He said in the long term, the company may consider investments for setting up manufacturing unit in the state. "That's what we may look at in the long term, but as of now the focus is on expanding distribution network," he said.

Sharma said the company had witnessed good growth in the state, and expected it to contribute to its overall growth. He also said the company was exploring the potential of food processing in the state.
