HomeShop18 to add insurance and apparel to portfolio

HomeShop18 channel, part of the Network18 group, plans to sell a new range of products from areas like insurance, real estate and apparel, adding to its portfolio that is dominated by electronic goods, jewellery and home appliances.     

"We are in talks with various players for introducing insurance products. Along with that, we are also looking at different offerings like apparel and real estate for our customers," HomeShop18 Chief Executive Officer Sundeep Malhotra said.     

He, however, declined to comment on the insurance and real estate players the channel is in discussions with.     

The company is already selling more than 350 brands including Samsung, Philips, Godrej, Hitachi, Onida, Motorola, Tanishq, Nokia, Reebok and IFB through its channel.     

"The intent is to offer consumers choice of brands. We have well-known as well as lesser known brands and there are demonstations that help consumers make an informed choice," he said.     

The channel has also partnered with some companies to roll out exclusive shows. "We have shows like 'Onida Show' or the 'Godrej EON Show, where we showcase different products by the company. This is advertising as well as sales for the companies minus the physical stores," Malhotra added.
