Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI), the 100 per cent owned two-wheeler subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Japan, is targetting sale of 12.5 lakh units in financial year 2009-10, its top official said.
Unveiling the new CBF Stunner PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) technology here today, Shinji Aoyama, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd told reporters HMSI was targetting to achieve a sales mark of 12.5 lakh units in financial year 2009-10, "an 18 per cent growth over last year's 10.7 lakh units with a similar growth".
Powered with 125cc air-cooled four-stroke self-start engine, the new model will deliver a power of 11.6 bhp at 8000 rpm and will give a mileage of 65 kms per litre as compared to 60 kms per litre delivered by earlier Stunner.
The latest version has a top speed of 100 km/hr and the FI technology has enabled bringing down the emission levels to one-tenth.
Targetting youngsters in 18-24 years age group to promote and expand fun-biking culture, the new Stunner will hit roads by first week of June and will be available in two colours- CBR red and CBR silver metallic at an ex-showroom price of Rs 66,200 at Bangalore.
"The bike will be available by June 13, 2009 all over India. We plan to sell 1.25 lakh of CBF Stunner (all four variants) in year 2009-10", N K Rattan, Operation Head, Sales & Marketing, HMSI said.
Responding to a query on the impact of recession on the motorcycle market, Aoyama said "the momentum in this sector is still stronng and we are witnessing a positive growth".
"Though the Bangalore market is dipping now, it is sustainable and we are still keeping strong momentum in sales", he said.
On whether new stunner was "totally indigenous", Aoyama said "except for the FI technology, which is imported from Japan, it is indigenous".
To another question on exports, he said the new Stunner was already being sold in Europe since November last.
